Going Green

Back from a fun and "cool" trip! I painted this apple with my friends...Everyone's turned out great! I just got a new camera...I am still learning about how it works. I am looking forward to better color and less glare! Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks!

Mini

I painted this at my workshop with Elizabeth Robbins. It took lots longer than the last 20 minute post. After I got it painted, I realized that the flower and vase were on the same plane...not how I had it planned, but how I painted it. So, I added the bud in front. I think it helped and I like the way the stem cast its shadow!

Bird's Eye View

It is fun to look at things with a fresh eye.....this painting was an exercise from Elizabeth Robbins's workshop. We had 20 minutes to paint a set up. (Yes, we all freaked!) I tried to pick something not too complicated. I think it worked! This apple was resting on its side and was laying on a really cool turquoise scarf. Working quickly gave me permission to see the big picture, values and temperatures without stressing over blending or details. Painting it at eye level made the shape pretty simple. I like the funky, contemporary feel of this one.

Sunny

Time for some sun! We have had a cloudy, rainy 4th of July holiday....very unusual for Florida...but it happens sometimes. This is a painting of a sunflower from my yard. I planted the seeds with my 4 year old grand daughter....We did not plant many, and the bugs got a few...I thought I would get ones with brown centers and that they would turn towards the sun during the day....not ours! But we do have plenty of seeds for the birds and some to plant next time.
