Wildflowers or Weeds?

8" x 6" oil on linen panel
NFS

This is a painting that has been hanging around unfinished for a long time.  The photo was actually taken on the same aspen grove trip from my last post.  So again, good memories.  It was good to figure out how to get it done....I am really enjoying these outdoor scenes.  Do you think it is "spring fever"?

In the Grove

6" x 6" oil on panel
$95 unframed - $5.95 postage
SOLD

An aspen grove that was breathtaking.  Isn't it great when a photo can take your memory back in time?  Time spent in a glorious place with far away friends.  I really like painting from photos like this......and remembering.

Three Palms

14" x 5 1/2" oil on linen panel
$200 unframed - $5.95 shipping

I pass these 3 palm trees almost everyday. When one of my painting buddies wanted to paint palm trees, I snapped a picture while I was stopped at a red light...I am not sure how I had a panel this size. I must have cut one in half, which means there is another panel the same size floating around here somewhere. Skinny trees, skinny panel and a palette knife..I like the combination!

Quick Draw

6" x 8" oil on panel
NFS

The last day of the paint out, they held a "quick draw" that was open to the public....again, I figured, why not? 2 hours to paint part of the river....About 25 artists registered...bad weather had us all under a huge canopy. The artists that decided to set up outside got rained on big time. But, oil and water don't mix, so their paintings survived. My big question, "What do you paint when it all looks like green trees?" Here is my version of green.

Plein Air 101

6" x 8" oil on panel
NFS

I tried something new and it was FUN! The Wekiva River Paint Out had one day of instruction, so I decided to give it a try. The teacher, Mitch Kolbe, took our class of 4 to a place on the river to paint this sideways palm tree. Painting outdoors is very different from painting in the studio. But you have to love it when the weather is too beautiful to stay inside!

Doors 2

9" x 12" oil on panel
$300 unframed, $5.95 shipping

Another door from my photo collection. I am pretty sure this is the door of a police station...but since I don't speak Italian, it could have been anything....It did have a very official plaque to the left of the door which got painted out..and the flower pots made an entrance. Do flower pots go with official police entrances?

Tiger Lilies

11" x 14" oil on panel

The last 2 days of the workshop I tackled another still life. I like the way the colors on this one came together. I went a little crazy trying to find the right transparent, orange-y orange for the petals....It was WAY harder than I thought. Lesson learned!

Pottery and Petals #2

10" x 10" oil on panel

Switching from portraits to still life for workshop day 2 1/2 and 3. I really like to paint pottery and these 2 vessels called my name. Daisies seem to kind of "go" with pottery in a casually, elegant way. Don't you think?

Off to another workshop

"Corrie"
11" x 14" oil on canvas panel

Not exactly a small painting, but it is another step in my art journey. I decided to try this after watching a demo by Gregg Kreutz on day 1 of a 5 day workshop. I figured it was a good time to try since the teacher would be there to help....I could have painted still life instead, and I did for the rest of the workshop, but here is Corrie. I promise she was not sunburned! I have some work to do on flesh tones, ya think?

Daisies

10" x 10" oil on canvas panel
$300 unframed, $5.95 shipping

This is a painting that I started at home before studying with Dreama. When I got home, I decided to change the white and blue vase to copper....not sure why, but I wanted to try it. Crazy, I know!

Summer Lantern

8" x 8" oil on canvas panel

I took a photo of this lantern on a summer trip to Vail....these are all over the village with beautiful vines of clematis growing abundantly on all of them. Thanks to the students in my monthly class for giving me the title!

Fresh Look

8" x 8" oil on canvas panel

This is a fresh look at a sunflower that I have painted before. This time a little larger with a fun background and lots of textury paint. Palette knife painting...Tons of fun.
