Daisies are always fun to paint. It is hard to imagine that November has arrived! I am off to another workshop tomorrow. I'm ready to study with Connie Winters. I've got my paint, panels and brushes all set. Corse Gallery and Atelier in Jacksonville is a great place to study! Maybe I will see you there!
Fall is an apple time of year. This delicious, shiny, red apple is the perfect thing for trick-or-treat, a Thanksgiving feast, or a Christmas gift. Bake it into a pie with cinnamon and spices, add some vanilla ice cream and YUM my kind of dessert!
On workshop day 3 we painted from our own photo reference. Colorful bicycles were in every small hilltown that we visited in Tuscany. I could not resist taking pictures of them. My bike at home is lavender, so you know I love that...but I do not have a bell or a basket filled with flowers. I am going to have to work on that. Thanks, Dreama, and Corse Gallery and Atelier for a great workshop!
My DPW challenge entry this week. The complementary challenge. (Using 2 complementary colors (i.e. orange and blue, yellow and purple, green and red) take one color in both directions on the color wheel (for example, orange, red orange and yellow orange) and do not mix the complement (blue) unless it's to make grays (mixed with oranges). You can use white sparingly.) Don't you just LOVE purple?
This challenge had me stumped for most of the week....What to include from the reference photo? What to leave out? How to get the perspective of going down hill and back up again in the distance? I had fun trying to figure it out!
Last week the challenge was to paint small. I painted this one on canvas paper and cut it to size. I got to trade it with another artist in the challenge. Nora MacPhail is sending me a watercolor of a cute bear..can't wait to get it in the mail. You can check out all the challenge entries by clicking on the DPW link...It is always fun to try these challenges!
I tried this small painting on a new brand of panel that I was given. I liked the surface, a lot! It is Centurion deluxe oil primed linen by Creative Mark....Last week the DPW challenge was polka-dots. It is always fun to participate and to see how other artists paint the challenge.
